Out of the Box #9
A light selection for entry #9.
Mary Anne warned me in time about Wednesday's PBS' Great Performances presenting a modern day adaptation of Macbeth featuring Patrick Stewart in the title role, but I didn't warn anyone else. However, it repeats 10/11 on APTV at 2 AM. Stay up late! Get up early! Use a DVR or even a VCR!
Also, is The Hobbit delayed or greenlit? If the tag to that LA Times article's correct and MGM and Warner have dropped $45 million on the production, something needs to happen. Warner might be able to take a hit, but even more debt makes MGM an even less attractive buy.

As it turns out, Sir Patrick is bloody brilliant as that Scots fella. They were going for a dark and edgy version and they certainly achieved their aim with a kind of Stalinist era theme; the oppressive atmosphere of the play is heightened by the underground bunker setting. Outdoor scenes and daylight are at a premium and Lady Mac Porch-Light-Burned-Out was just plain spooky.
I give this production four out of five severed heads. Congrats to the cast on their fine work and remember, if it's no' Scots, it's crrrap!
